Short stories from Amsterdam, Moscow, Havana and elsewhere, in How To Go On Making Art When Everything Is All Fucked Up the first of the How To Go On series. Texts by Loic Wacquant, Rob van Kranenburg and Aylin Kuryel acompanying some of my photos and writing from Detroit in this prize-winning paperback, The Detroit Diary. The fragile stories and photographs of women who have escaped from forced prostitution in the Netherlands, juxtaposed with other pieces of writing in, Mulier Sacer. An archive of photos from which the bees have already disappeared, plus a story by prize winning British author Simon Ings, as well as texts by myself and co-author Doris Denekamp in If Bees Are Few. A Small Collection of Innocuous Objects, is also available in Dutch (Een kleine verzameling onschadelijke objecten). It has photographs accompanied by ‘anthropological’ descriptions of over 80 souvenirs bought in the Amsterdam Red Light District, which are juxtaposed with the stories of eight survivors of prostitution in the Netherlands. The wonderful design was done by Marit van de Meer.
